Walking--A Good Workout 散步--好的锻炼方式

Any exercise program should include cardiovascular exercise, which strengthens the heart and burns calories. And walking is something you can do anywhere, anytime, with no equipment other than a good pair of shoes.
It's not just for beginners, either: Even the very fit can get a good workout from walking.
\"Doing a brisk walk can burn up to 500 calories per hour,\" says Robert Gotlin, DO, director of orthopaedic(整形外科) and sports rehabilitation(康复) at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York. Since it takes 3,500 calories to lose a pound, you could expect to lose a pound for every seven hours you walk, if you did nothing else.
Don't go from the sofa to walking an hour day, though. Richard Cotton, a spokesman for the American Council on Exercise, says beginners should start by walking five to -10 minutes at a time, gradually moving up to at least 30 minutes per session.
\"Don't add more than five minutes at a time,\" he says. Another tip: It's better to lengthen your walks before boosting(增加) your speed or incline(坡度).

orthopaedic(整形外科) 翻译不当。
orthopaedic日本原文是(整形外科) ,美语翻作:矫形外科。到了中国,orthopaedic就是俗说的骨科
而中国国内的整形外科,英语:cosmetic surgery

cosmetic surgery or plastic surgery -整容外科

Orthopedic surgery or orthopedics (also spelled orthopaedics) is the branch of surgery concerned with injuries to, or conditions involving, the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons address most muscle injuries that require surgery, and some are also skilled at dealing with congenital conditions that result in orthopedic deformities, such as spastic cerebral palsy, using both surgical and non-surgical means.

Nicholas Andry coined the word \"orthopaedics\", derived from Greek words for orthos (\"correct\", \"straight\") and paideia (\"rearing\" (usually of child)), in 1741, when at the age of 81 he published Orthopaedia: or the Art of Correcting and Preventing Deformities in Children.

I with my husband often take a walk after supper

Walking is good exercise for the legs, heart, and lungs. Almost everyone can do it. You don't have to take lessons to learn how to walk. You can do it almost anywhere and at any time. All you have to do is step outside your door. Almost any sidewalk, street, road, trail, park, field, or shopping mall will do. You don't have to find a partner or get a team together to walk.Walking is not a seasonal activity, and you can do it in extreme temperatures. It doesn't cost anything to take a walk. You don't have to pay fees or join a private club to become a walker. The only equipment required is a sturdy, comfortable pair of shoes.

My wife and i take a walk before breakfast early in the morning and after supper in the evening. It does us a lot of help and keeps us healthy. When we walk on the sidewalk of the street or along the bank of the river i see many other people walking or jogging, too. People nowadays pay more attention to their health. It costs too much for them to see a doctor if they get ill. The government is taking some measures so as to cover all people with health insurance. In this way they can afford the high medical expenses.
