Chinese Lantern Festival 元宵节
Lantern Festival or Yuanxiao Jie is a traditional Chinese festival, which falls on the 15th day of the first month of the Chinese New Year. It is the last day of two week long Chinese New Year cerebration. Lanterns of various shapes and sizes are hung in the streets, attracting countless visitors. People with their family gather in the show place to enjoy the beautiful lanterns. Kids carry their own lanterns to participate in the showcase. Usually there is competition for the most beautiful lantern.Guessing lantern riddles is a popular activity added during the Lantern Festival. It appeared in the Song Dynasty. In the very beginning, some people wrote riddles on the lantern and people guess them. Because the lantern riddles are good for brain exercising and it is very interesting. Besides, people can enjoy firework shows at night and lion and dragon dance are also part of the Festival.
This festival is also a Chinese Valentine's day that youngsters celebrate the festivals with their lovers in such beautiful and romantic evening. We had yuanxiao, or sweet dumplings for lunch yesterday. It was delicious. I like sweet food. I'm sure we willhave it too tomorrow. HappyLantern Festival ! The fireworks show last night was wonderful. I took as walk after dinner as usual. Splendid fireworks appeared in the sky when i was walking along. We were very excited to see them. There are fireworks shows on Lantern Festivals in our city for many years. People enjoy seeing them during holidays.
