Tree Planting Day in China 植树节
Today is March 12 2009. In 1979, China set March 12 as a National Tree Planting Day and launched the national voluntary tree-planting campaign in the early 1980s. Trees take a very important role in cleaning and balancing the environment.It was drizzling here early in the morning today. When i woke up this morning i saw the ground was wet and little rain was falling down quietly. People often say spring rain is as dear as oil. That is true. Everything is coming back to life in spring. Plants and trees need rainwater to grow well.
Every year people plant trees in different places in spring. That is why we set tree planting day in spring. Spring is good time for trees to grow. When I rode on the streets I saw some people planting trees. The some leaves of the grass have turned green under the dry old grass’s leaves. Spring has really arrived. Though the temperature drops a bit because of the rain today it can’t stop the spring coming here. People nowadays are more aware of the importance of good environment. “Planting tree for the sake of the environment and ourselves” has been deeply rooted in everyone’s mind. Companies, schools and government departments mobilize people to plant trees every year. With more and more trees planted, our surroundings are becoming more and more beautiful. People are enjoying a nice and happy life in such good environment. I’m sure our world will become better and better. In fact planting trees has become more and more popular among people. Young couples plant trees on their wedding anniversaries to mark the important day. Celebrities plant trees to celebrate important occasions. School children plant tress to make their school more beautiful. And more importantly planting trees is meaningful for our descendants. As an old Chinese saying goes, “The forefathers plant trees, where their descendants can find shadows to enjoy the cool.”
More trees mean better environment. Better environment means good health for people. Plants and trees are our friends. And animals are our friends too. We should live with our friends peacefully and be friendly to them. Don't cut down trees for money. Don't kill animals for delicious food. If we don't protect our world well and cut down all the trees and kill all the other animals. Human beings will come to their doom, too. Tree Planting Day in China
