Reading is the best way to relax and even six minutes can reduce stress(压力) levels by more than two-thirds, according to new research noted in the Telegraph. It even beats listening to music or going for a walk, University of Susse x researchers found. Psychologists(心理学家) say they believe this is because the mind must concentrate(集中) on reading and that distraction(分心,消遣)eases tension(紧张)in muscles and the heart.Reading reduced the stress levels of test subjects(受实验者)by 68 percent, and they only needed to read, silently, for six minutes to see improvement.Listening to music reduced the levels by 61 percent and taking a walk by 42 percent. Reading is good for the brain because it is a complex activity. It envolves seeing (you look at the words), it envolves recognition (you recognise the words), it envolves understanding (you have to understand what you are reading), it envolves memory (you memorize what you read and store it in your brain so that further on you recognise the word you've read), it envolves hearing and speaking (because when you read you always associate what you read to a voice), it envolves emotion (you feel something when you read)... and so on. It's complex and the more you read, the more your brain will develop. It is a good activity for brain stimulation. good idea! Book is the best friend also. People who are more literate are happier, more likely to be in a lasting relationship and living in their own home.
