Wild Pandas' Habitat At Risk After Quake震后大熊猫栖息地濒危
There are only 600 or so giant pandas living in the wild in China. But new research shows that the habitat of these animals was severely harmed in the massive(巨大) earthquake in China last year. The temblor(地震) caused widespread damage in Chinese cities and killed thousands of people. But a recent analysis of the mountains in the area shows that 60 percent of the habitat occupied by wild pandas was also badly damaged. Using satellite images, scientists found that nearly a quarter of the wild panda habitat, once forested and full of bamboo, had been turned into bare(光秃的) land.
