暴雨袭击上海Heaviest rain in 70 years floods 3,000 Shanghai households
SHANGHAI, July 30 (Xinhua) -- The heaviest rains in 70 years hit China's largest city, Shanghai, Thursday, flooding 3,000 households and more than 70 roads.No casualties have been reported.
Rainfall reached 80 to 140 mm in most areas of the city. The water was 10 to 30 cm deep on the roads and 5 to 10 cm in households in Luwan, Huangpu, Zhabei and Jinshan districts.
Some vehicles（车辆） were damaged by fallen tree branches, according to the municipal headquarters of flood control.
More than 500 workers are clearing away the water. Beijing was also hit by the heaviest rain of the year last night and early this morning.
The average rainfall in the urban area reached 16 mm Friday.
The rain flooded some roads and affected traffic. No accident was reported as of 1:40 a.m.
