National Day and Mid–Autumn Festival Celebration国庆和中秋

It will be Oct. 1 tomorrow, China’s National Day and Oct. 3 is the traditional Chinese holiday, Mid-Autumn Festival or Moon Festival. People will have an 8-day-long holiday to celebrate both festivals. A grand military parade will be held at Tian Anmen Square in Beijing. The parade in Beijing will include 60 colorful floats with a variety of themes. 34 will feature regional cultures from across China. It is the 60th anniversary of the founding the People’s Republic of China. Great changes have taken place in the past 60 years especially since the initiation of the reform and opening-up. People are enjoying a very happy life now. After the parade various performances will he put on at the square and fireworks will be shown at night for the celebration. It will be the biggest celebration the country has ever had. Furthermore, the Mid-Autumn Festival will be on October 3. We have Mid-Autumn Festival to celebrate the good harvest of the year. Just like Christmas and Thanksgiving in the West, the Moon Festival is one of the most important traditional events for the Chinese. The Moon Festival is full of legendary stories. Legend says that Chang Er flew to the moon, where she has lived ever since. You might see her dancing on the moon during the Moon Festival. The Moon Festival is also an occasion for family reunions. When the full moon rises, families get together to watch the full moon, eat moon cakes, and sing moon poems. With the full moon, the legend, the family and the poems, you can't help thinking that this is really a perfect world. That is why the Chinese are so fond of the Moon Festival.

I was very happy, too last night. I took a walk after dinner, watching the bright full moon. And my wife made large sweet moon cakes with sugar and sesame seeds. They were delicious.

The National Day celebrations, including a military parade, a grandiose pageant and an evening gala, had been outstanding and successful thanks to sound preparations by the organizers and the performers.
The celebrations had showcased a favorable image of the country's armed forces and tremendous progress that the PRC had achieved in the past six decades, especially the latest 30 years of opening-up and reform.
The celebrations, receiving wide acclaim from international communities, had strengthened the national confidence and pride of the Chinese home and abroad.
