April Fool's Day愚人节
April Fool's Day or All Fool's Day occurs annually on April 1. The day is generally observed by playing a practical joke on a \"victim\" who soon becomes known as an April Fool. This custom is thought to have started in France during the 16th century but the British are credited with bringing it to the United States. The commonly accepted origin of April Fool's Day involves changes in the calendar. At one time, the New Year celebration began on March 25 and ended on April 1. However, in 1582, King Charles IX adopted the Gregorian calendar and accepted the beginning of the new year as January 1. Those who refused to acknowledge the new date or simply forgot received foolish gifts and invitations to nonexistent parties. The butt of such a prank was known as a \"poisson d'avril\" or \"April fish.\" learning~~~~ Good. though April fool's Day is not a holiday many people enjoy it. yes i like the every western festival ! April Fools' Day is a day to play jokes on others, No one knows how this holiday began but people think it first started in France.
In the 16 th century, people celebrated New Year's Day from March 25 to April 1. In the mid—1560s King Charles IX changed it from March 25 to January 1. But some people still celebrated in on April 1, so others called them April Fools. Yeterday I told my students that I would have a dictation and I did it today .But most of students failed the test .They said they thought I playedjokes on them . A very good and reasonable excuse for \"lazy\" students! Next time when you assign them homework you should tell them\"Don't take it as a hoax for April Fool's Day. I'm serious about it.\"!! In this way they can't have an excuse if they fail the test.
