Two flash downpours

It donwpoured again last night. There have been two flash downpours since last Friday night. It rained very heavily and many streets were flooded by the rain water. When i went out i saw some cars were stranded in the water. In the past few years almost every heavy rain flloods the streets in towns or cities. Beijing experiences such floods several times every summer, so do other cites. I have never heard of such floods in cities years ago. I know floods often happened in the fields of farmland. Now they have come to the cities. Is it because of the bad the drainage systems in cites? Or because there is much less open ground in the cities to store rain water?

I went to Beijing to send my American guest to his hotel, China Hotel. We had dinner together. On the way back i saw lightning ahead of us. I guessed it must be raining in our region. When i got home it was very cloudy though it didn't rain. I didn't sleep until 12 last night because i came back so late. i usually go to bed before 10. My wife didn't sleep well, either because of my lateness last night. We talked about our son's application of universities. When i came to work this morning i saw some parts of the streets flooded with water. It must have rained after i went to sleep last night, to be exact early this morning. It has rained several times in the past few days. Rain is good for crops to grow well but too much rain will also flood the fields and farmlands too.
