Recovery efforts still are underway in some of the Asian country's most remote areas, plagued(被困)by washed-out roads. Officials with the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (similar to the Red Cross) said the final death toll could top 10,000.
The tropical cyclone Sidr roared(冲向)ashore Thursday, battering(击毁)coastal villages with what one resident called \"the winds hundreds of demons(恶魔).\"
Relief organizations are airlifting(空投)supplies to damaged areas. However, items such as tents, rice and water have been slow to reach many people.
