Streets flooded街道积水

It had been stuffy weather since the start of the Olympics. We had a very hot weekend at home, watching the Olympic opening ceremony and games. Though it rained a little bit Sunday afternoon it was still very hot. It rained very hard last night and early this morning. The heavy rain really cooled the weather this time. The heavy rain also caused some problems. Many parts of the streets were flooded. I had to ride on the sidewalk when i came to work this morning. i saw cars driving in the water along the streets and the water splashed behind. The drainage system doesn't work well, especially when there is flash downpour.

It rained hard and streets were flooded. Flood retreated and the sky has cleared up now.

I watched Baodi news about the flood on TV. The departments concerned asked workers to drain the rain water on the streets while it was raining heavily early in the morning. They opened the manholes to let the water flow in faster and marked the dangerous places with flags. They were working hard in the rain and we should thank them for their hard work.
