Last night I met a friend of mine online. She asked me to help her with some English work. She told me that her 12-year-old-son would take an English competition. I told her it was a good chance for her son to go to an English contest. Then she told me that her son’s English teachers asked her son to find some adults to help him write the essays. I was upset about it. It is a shame for some contests. It is not a contest for students themselves. It is a contest for teachers and parents. If a student wins in the contest, his or her teachers will get great rewards and even promoted. So the teachers ask students to try every possible way to win the contest. Some teachers even ask their students to do cheating. When I was a teacher I often told my students to be honest in their exams and in life, too. To be a winner in a competition was great but to be an honest person is also important. If all the competitors ask others for help in their contest it is an unfair contest and the contest means nothing for the winners. After I told my friend my thoughts about the competition she told me she hated such kind of competition, too but she had no choice. She worried that her son’s English teachers would be upset with her son if she didn’t help her to write the essays well. I made a compromise, too. I said I could write some essays for her son but I asked her to tell her son to learn those sentences by heart and try to write his own essays some day. Here are two essays I wrote for her son. Each essay should be 1 minute long.

IF I had super power like a Spiderman or Superman

I like the movies Spiderman and Superman very much. How I wish I could have the power like them! I would help the people in need and make them live a better life. I would punish those evil (bad) people who do harm to the world. I would stop all the fights and wars and killings and make the world a better place to live in.

How to stop air pollution?

The air around us is becoming dirty these years and the dirty air makes us fall ill. That is too bad. We should do something to stop the air from getting dirty and make it a better place for us to live in. The black smoke from the cars makes the air dirty. So I will ask my parents and other adults to use car less. I will walk to school or go to school by bus instead of by car so as to make the air clean again.

Writing is a basic skill for the students who are learning English . The teachers often ask their students to practise writing . But in fact ,very few students do well in it .They are notinterested in wrting . In other words ,they are afraid of wring ,especially in the eaxm . As we all know ,wrting is useful and important for the students .so if one wants to learn English well , theymust be good at it . The wrting competition is a chance for the top studentsto practise their wrting,It's a way to show themselves to others as well. .As a teacher ,I'd like my students to go to an English contest .

I don't agree with you and your friend ,the mother . I think your friend should ask her son to write by himself first and then show it to you for some advice . And you shouldn't do it insteadof your friend's son .

Air pollution is a common topic for a Junior High School student . It 's not so hard to write an essayone minute long .

Just like listening, speaking and reading, writing skill is important for students to learn a language well. A lot of practice can improve students' writing skills. i suggest writing diaries in english often if students want to improve writing ability. Reading can also be of some help to writing. When doing reading we may meet some well-written sentences or expressions. We can follow those sample sentences and do it in the same way in our writing.
