The airport in Milan, Italy, was shut down for about three hours Sunday while volunteers(志愿者)chased wild hares around the runways(跑道).
The furry(毛皮的)critters(小动物)are often seen at the airport but this year their numbers have multiplied(成倍)after a mild winter, and takeoffs(起飞) and landings(降落)were being affected.
\"Animals passing in front of ground radar(雷达)were creating false alarms in the control towers,\" one official said.
For Sunday's roundup(围追), about 200 volunteers blew whistles and waved their arms to spook(惊吓)the bounding(跑跳)animals out of hiding and into waiting nets.
More than 60 animals were caught and taken to a wildlife preserve(保护区). |
