近日，美国体坛爆料“百米飞人”贾斯廷·加特林涉嫌兴奋剂丑闻。美国时间7月29日晚，男子百米奥运会及世锦赛双料冠军、美国田径名将贾斯廷·加特林，被确认尿检呈阳性。虽然加特林的教练格拉汉姆声称加特林遭人“陷害”，但这位短跑选手前景极不乐观，有可能被处以终身禁赛。

　　在竞赛项目中，sprinter特指“短跑运动员”。Sprinter（短跑运动员）源于动词sprint（短距离全速奔跑，最后冲刺），如：

　　Bessie suddenly broke into a sprint.（贝西突然开始飞奔。）

　　The runners sprinted down the finishing straight.（赛跑运动员奋力向终点冲刺。）

　　日常生活中，我们也常用sprint来形容“某项活动进入到最后紧张的冲刺阶段”，如：to put on a final sprint to prepare for the 2008 Olympic Games（2008年奥运会的准备工作进入到最后冲刺阶段）。
