The Friday after Thanksgiving – known as Black Friday because it marks the point in the year when retailers（零售商）move into the black（走出赤字）– is seen as the beginning of the holiday shopping season. It is the biggest shopping day of the year in the United States, with consumers lured by the size of discounts on items such as electrical goods, clothing, furniture and toys. Typically, it accounts for about 5 per cent of all Christmas shopping.

Not really. Black has different meanings.

Black horse黑马--指没有预料到的事情；
be in a black mood --情绪低落；
black deeds 凶恶的行为；a black mark 污点；
He gave her a black look. 他对她怒目而视。
Their future looked black. 他们的前途暗淡。
beat sb. black and blue 把某人打得青一块紫一块
call black white 颠倒黑白; 混淆是非
in the black 出现黑字, 有赢余(与“in the red ”相对)
