Why can't we use \"watch news\"? What do native speakers prefer to use? We can watch or listen to news and reports either on TV or over the radio. Some young people in big cities can do it online, too.

It is true that English speakers are more familiar with the term \"Chinese New Year\". Even some Chinese prefer to call it “Guo Nian” instead of “Spring Festival”. It takes time for people to take a new term. With more and more our communication with outside world, Westerners will gradually accept this term sooner or later. The purpose of learning a foreign language is to communicate.
