Why can't we use \"watch news\"? What do native speakers prefer to use? We can watch or listen to news and reports either on TV or over the radio. Some young people in big cities can do it online, too.

It is true that English speakers are more familiar with the term \"Chinese New Year\". Even some Chinese prefer to call it “Guo Nian” instead of “Spring Festival”. It takes time for people to take a new term. With more and more our communication with outside world, Westerners will gradually accept this term sooner or later. The purpose of learning a foreign language is to communicate. We will understand each other’s culture better if we communicate more often.

我也发现了，您大都是口语化，所以有些东西，我说的未必在口语里很重要，我主要是阅读英文文献，顶多听听老外做的学术报告什么的，所以，以书面语言为主，可能不是一个领域吧，呵呵

Reading is an efficient way of practicing English. When we read in English we can get a lot of information and learn many good English expressions at the same time. In fact, Reading and listening are two important ways of learning English for Chinese people. Not everyone can have the chances to speak English with English native speakers. Most of us can improve our English only by reading and listening.
